Some crispy freeriding from Beaumont, So-Cal The guys at Transworld Motocross were recently treated to an afternoon with Stenberg, Bereman and Durham - after a burst of rainfall cooked up perfect riding conditions. Watch Jacko Strong preparing the infamous 12-pack for his Headstong film
It takes a lot of effort to look that effortless
We love a good edit or action-sports movie. Almost any kind too - whether it's FMX, surfing or Extreme Ironing - the balance of performance and reality makes for something you can be blown away and inspired by.But we're also big fans of a decent behind the scenes video - they're often the part we most look forward to. They're a chance to show just how much hard work and effort goes into making something look effortless and cool as f**k. And this video fits the bill, as we look behind one of our favourite movies of last year: Jackson Strong's "Headstrong".
One of the movie's centrepieces was the insane "12-pack" run of jumps, and here we get a look at just how much refinement and care went into making sure Jacko was on the right side of the thin line between epic and disaster.

Watch Taka Higashino Cali Rollin' in Cali
Taka doing what comes naturally round at Ronnie Faisst's compound
The guys from FIST Handwear found themselves in So Cal earler this year, and made a stop by Faisst's Murrieta setup to catch up with one of their riders.
Taka took advantage of the spanking conditions - barely a cloud to be seen, no wind and just the right amount of moisture in the ground - to show off the sort of slick executions and ridiculous extensions he's known for.

It's all about making plans in FSX first fresh issue of the year...
For Ken Block, the new year means a new Gymkhana - and we're taking a look behind the scenes at his latest Dubai-shot tyre-shredding extravaganza. We also have Michael Laverty sitting down with UK MotoGP rider Bradley Smith for an in-depth chat about progression in the sport and Czech snowboarder Šárka Pančochová tells us how she got back into the sport after the grind of the pro circuit took the joy out of it. We also have columns from WSBK rider Josh Brookes and FMXer Steve Sommerfeld. Plus we talk to Ben Townley, Rob Adelberg and Sam Pilgrim - and look inside Japan's GoBig and the Aus-X Open supercross. Head to Freestylextreme.com
Enjoy the issue!

Slow Motion Double Grab
Yeah, yeah - we know you're fed up with 100fps slow motion footage. But you're just going to have to deal with it for a couple more minutes after watching this video of Norwegian FMX star Ailo Guap performing a double grab. In, rather worryingly, what looks like his ganddad's pyjamas... Regardless, it you didn't already, being able to see the athletic talent and just how much time these guys are in the air and not even touching their bikes will give you a new respect for Freestyle Motocross dudes.

Rock The Ramp
FMX4Ever recently put on Rock the Ramp, a weekend of music, FMX and partying in Zelzate, Belgium. And boy did it go off! Check out the video to see 11 riders from six countries going at it in front of 2500 wild fans. Wish we’d have been there!
Libor Podmol FMX
It shouldn’t be a secret by now. Here at Big Air Jam, we love Libor Podmol. The guy has some unmatched skills and a style that most riders would kill for. Well the dude just went even higher in our estimation after releasing this rear facing GoPro of him playing around at his home track in Czech Republic. Seriously, even when this guy is clowning around he’s still sick.

X Games Brazil: Taka Higashino and Lance Coury Get Gold + Jackson Strong Freestyle X Crash
X Games in Brazil might not have worked out great for Ken Block, Travis Pastrana or Tanner Foust. But the weekend of events at Foz do Iguaçu still saw it's fair share of winners. Check out the winning run from Taka Higashino in Moto X Freestyle X (landing him another gold medal after his performance in Los Angeles) and watch Lance Coury triumphing over Andre Villa to win Moto X Speed and Style.
Even despite Best Trick being removed from the events line-up, Moto X wasn't completely free from injury - Australian Jackson Strong under-rotated a backflip in his Freestyle X run, leaving him with concussion and a broken right tibia. The rider is fine though and posting on his Facebook page after being released from hospital

The Best Moto Heli Video of all time?
Brett Cue Road 2 XGAMES Episode 4 Heli Shoot from WhiskeyThrottleTV on Vimeo.
Getting into the X Games is an awful lot easier said than done. If you aren't part of the elite, you'll need to create a couple of awesome videos and hope you're in luck. Brett Cue has produced (or Whiskey Throttle TV) what can only be described as one of the greatest heli shoot videos of all time. Yup, it really is that good. The video features Brett launching his dirt scooter around a really cool MX track, as well as throwing a couple of gnarly whips, lazy-boys and hitting some sweet berms. Watch. Enjoy. Dream. Then repeat. (Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!)Saturday, 26 January 2013
Big Bikes Can Fly!
KTM rally racer Marc Coma took to the air after winning his fifth Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. In the deserts of the UAE, Coma tried his hand at launching the 140kg 2011 KTM 450 Rally bike over the sand dunes with help from X-Games gold medal winner Ronnie Renner.
The two riders had some fun swapping between Coma’s rally bike and Renner’s freestyle motocrosser — a weird experience for both, with Coma making a 15 meter long, 6 meter high, jump on the usually terrestrially grounded rally bike. Photos after the jump.
“Normally, for us the important thing is keeping the bike in contact with the ground. The speed is what matters,” said Coma. “That’s why it’s not usual for Rally riders to be jumping these heights and distances. Compared to a Freestyle bike, my bike weighs about a dozen kilos more than this. The tank alone can hold 40 liters.”
“That was really an eye-opener!” exclaimed Renner. “I was able to take a spin on Marc’s bike and I’ve got to admit I must have looked pretty awful. The speed is incredible and the handling compared to a Freestyle bike is extremely hard. Taking this jump on a KTM Rally bike is phenomenal.”

FMX Star Andre Villa Hits Up FreestyleXtreme For His UK Arenacross Kit
While he has performed his Freestyle tricks most frequently in America and mainland Europe, he hasn't had quite so many appearances over in the UK. Until now! Villa has been drafted in to take part in the FMX section of the new UK Arenacross series and the Norwegian Fox Racing and Monster Energy athlete needed a customised kit to wear for the remainder of the shows. So, without his US pals to hand, he turned to FreestyleXtreme to personalise his new Fox kit for him. Check it out! Based on the Fox 360 Vibron MX kit, you can see the special badges Freestylextreme added that only any proper sponsored athlete has access to.

FSX Talk To X Fighters Winner Levi Sherwood!
FSX: We’re really excited for your new Levi Sherwood collaboration range with Etnies. We love the look of the Tees and your new Charter shoe! How much input did you have into your range?
Levi: A fair amount, I told the designers I wanted to tie in my collection to the graphic look and design of my bike so that’s why you see purple and arrange hits. We went back and forth and worked it out to final product.
FSX: Do you have any more designs in the pipeline? Anything exciting we can look forward to in future Etnies ranges?
Levi: For sure, I have a really clear direction on the shoe silhouettes I want to use and we are also working on something really cool to bring to the table graphic-wise that I think people will be as excited about as I am.
FSX: You’re currently sitting in second for this year’s Red Bull X-Fighters competition. Things started brilliantly in Dubai but things didn’t quite work out so well at Glen Helen. How do you feel about the next round in Madrid?
Levi: I think Madrid will suit my style as it will be important to bring big tricks and get the crowd pumped up from the get go.
Levi: I think Madrid will suit my style as it will be important to bring big tricks and get the crowd pumped up from the get go.
FSX: Dubai marked your third victory at a Red Bull X-Fighters event. You’re one of the youngest competitors and still just a few years into your career. What goals does a guy set himself that has achieved so much so soon?
Levi: I’m really focused on the Red Bull X Fighters Series, I’ve had some ups and downs early on and this year I want to play it smart and see the series all the way through to the end.
FSX: We’d never suggest that riders should take any unnecessary risks but were you disappointed that you didn’t get the chance to compete at the round of X Fighters in Turkey?

FSX: We’d never suggest that riders should take any unnecessary risks but were you disappointed that you didn’t get the chance to compete at the round of X Fighters in Turkey?
Levi: It really was disappointing for us as riders to not be able to put a show on for the fans and it was also disappointing for the people that worked so hard to make the event happen but in the end the decision that was made was the right one I think and it was really in the interest of rider safety.
FSX: Your accident at the practice of Nitro Circus in Las Vegas last year put you out of action for most of the 2011 competition season. Although it must have been hugely disappointing, it clearly hasn’t done anything to diminish your skill. Have your injuries led to any long-term effects or adjustments to your riding style?
Levi: I think most professional athletes are managing or playing/riding around an injury at most times but luckily so far (touch wood) I haven’t had to make any what I feel are significant adjustments to my riding style due to injury.
How did you end up hooking up with the Nitro Circus crew in the first place? Do you plan do anything more with them in the future?
Levi: They invited me for the New Zealand round and I think it was at Travis’s request; it was cool to spend time with him and Lyn-Z on the tour.
FSX: Congratulations on picking up another X Games silver medal, by the way! Your run was sick! How confident were you on the run up to the games?
Levi: I felt pretty good going in knowing that I had solid trick list and a new trick and the course having limited options due to the size of the venue would put the most pressure to deliver the goods in the air so that’s what I focused on.
FSX: That first ramp in the Moto X Freestyle arena looked terrifying! How did you find the course? Were you disappointed to find Taka had just pipped you at the post?
Levi: It did look a bit intimidating but when you think about it it’s really just a normal jump that is elevated, the ramp and the landings are the same as always just higher up in the air.
FSX: Good luck for the rest of the X Fighters and we hope to see you next year at X Games with a gold medal!
